This powerful firehose is specifically designed by our Dakota Lithium pro staff to quickly charge 48V batteries while optimizing their lifespan. With a charging speed of 15A, this charger can fully charge a 48V 50Ah battery in 3 hours and a 100Ah battery bank in less than 6.5 hours. It is only recommended for use with our lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4 or LFP) batteries and not suitable for charging lead acid or SLA batteries due to its high power. The high tensile aluminum case allows for rapid cooling and the built-in Anderson plug with ring terminals provides safe and easy charging. For best performance and lifespan, all Dakota Lithium batteries should be charged with a LiFePO4 compatible charger like this one. This charger is also compatible with all Connect-Ease trolling motor wiring kits.

• Charger Recommendation:

  • Use a LiFePO4-compatible charger for optimal performance and lifespan.
  • 48V chargers for lead acid batteries may work but will decrease performance and lifespan.

• Terminal Connections:

  • Use Anderson SB 50 connections for easy connection:
    • Install ring terminals using the bolts on your battery terminals.
    • Bolt black to the black terminal and red to the red terminal.
  • Connect the charger via the Anderson plug when charging.
  • Indicator lights:
    • Red light: Charging.
    • Green light: Fully charged.

• Smart BMS Communication:

  • The charger can "wake up" a Dakota Lithium BMS after:
    • A short circuit.
    • Excessive amp draw.
  • Simply connect the charger to restart the battery.

• Charging Speed:

  • Charges at 15 amps.
  • To estimate charging time:
    • Divide the battery's amp-hour (Ah) rating by 15.
    • Example: A 48V 50Ah battery charges in 3.5 hours.

• Faster Charging:

  • Standard charging time (3-10 hours) ensures longer battery life.
  • Rapid charging:
    • Safe to charge in 1 hour (rate: 1C).
    • Example: Use a 15A charger for a 15Ah battery.
    • Note: Faster charging may reduce lifespan over time.
  • Recommended charging speed for longevity: 0.3C or less
    • Use a charger with an amp rating 1/3 or less of the battery’s amp-hour rating.
