Gauges are an important feature of all waterborne vessels, including boats, ships, hovercraft and submarines. Boat gauges, or marine gauges, measure critical engineering parameters, such as clearance, depth and diameter, among others. Marine gauges are a window into the operations of your boat, allowing you to know what is going on in your systems and warning you of impending danger. Marine gauges are integral components for any ship or boating vessel. This equipment is the key to monitoring data, such as speed, oil pressure, battery conditions, and much more. By transmitting this information onto an easy to read screen or dial, these gauges allow for the easy operation of waterborne vessels. Compatible on many of the larger Mercury outboards, DTS is a whole new experience for single-engine boats. Marine gauges are usually console-mounted to allow boaters an overview of the operations at a glance. Each boat gauges indicates an important boating function Mercury Marine's DTS (Digital Throttle and Shift) takes the performance of your boat to the highest level and makes putting the motor into gear a lot smoother and less clunky. Most sensors have a mechanical floating arm and a rheostat. When the arm is all the way down, in the “empty” position, the resistance in the circuit to the gauge is near zero. As the arm rises, resistance in the circuit also rises to around 200 Ohms. This resistance is what moves the needle on the gauge. On a boat, some of the most common types of gauges on the dashboard are the tachometer, fuel, speedometer, trim, voltmeter, oil pressure, and water temperature gauges. SmartCraft is a powerful, fully-integrated Boat information system from Mercury Marine that provides up-to-the-second information on dozens of engine diagnostics, including RPM, fuel flow and management, critical temperature readings, speed, and engine Trim.
