Description
Mercury/MerCruiser 3.0L & 4.3L Four-Stroke FC-W 25W-40 Oil Change Kit
This Mercury/MerCruiser oil change kit is designed for select 3.0L and 4.3L four-stroke marine engines from 2002-current. It includes Mercury 25W-40 Marine Engine Oil and a genuine Mercury oil filter to support proper lubrication, corrosion protection, and long-term marine engine performance.
A MerCruiser 3.0L engine commonly uses Mercury or Quicksilver 25W-40 marine engine oil, with many models taking about 4 US quarts with a filter change. Use marine-rated oil and confirm the final level with the dipstick after running the engine.
The recommended oil type for a MerCruiser 3.0L is usually NMMA FC-W certified Mercury or Quicksilver 25W-40 marine engine oil. Marine-grade oil is preferred over automotive oil because it is formulated for corrosion resistance, high load, moisture exposure, and sustained RPM use.
Kit Includes
- 1 gallon of Mercury 25W-40 Marine Engine Oil
- 1 × Mercury Oil Filter 35-866340K01
The amount of oil included in this kit is adequate for most of the specifically noted Mercury and MerCruiser applications. If your particular engine requires additional oil, please purchase this separately before beginning service.
Mercury 25W-40 Marine Engine Oil
For use in many 4-stroke marine engines, Mercury 25W-40 oil is engineering approved for marine 4-stroke applications, including outboard, MerCruiser, high-performance, sterndrive, and inboard applications where specified. It exceeds marine industry 4-stroke oil requirements, including FC-W compatibility.
Mercury's 4-stroke oil technology outperforms automotive oils in marine applications because of its specialized additive package designed for marine engines. Marine engines face moisture, corrosion, heavy load, high operating temperatures, and long running periods, so using the correct marine-rated oil is important.
How to Use This Oil Change Kit
- Warm the engine briefly so the oil drains or extracts more easily.
- Drain or extract the old oil into an approved container.
- Remove the old oil filter and confirm the old gasket came off with it.
- Install the included Mercury 35-866340K01 oil filter.
- Refill gradually with Mercury 25W-40 Marine Engine Oil.
- Run the engine briefly, check for leaks, let the oil settle, and confirm the final level with the dipstick.
Always confirm your exact oil capacity, oil type, filter part number, and torque specifications in your Mercury or MerCruiser owner’s manual before service.
