Gator Guard applications

While the applications for Gator Patches are nearly endless, the most common use cases include the following:

Gator Guard

Kayak, canoe, fiberglass boat protection

When boating in shallow water, it is easy to miss rocks, gravel, oyster beds, or other objects that can cause extensive damage. Or, maybe you commonly beach your boat, kayak, or canoe. Simply dragging your vessel onto the shore will cause damage that can shorten the lifespan of your craft.

Additionally, launching on boat ramps often entails a lot of scraping.

However, by applying Gator Patch to your keel or other vulnerable areas, you can avoid a lot of potentially expensive damage.

Fiberglass hull holes, scrapes, or cracks

Accidents and collisions happen, and fiberglass and other materials can crack, particularly after extensive exposure to the sun’s UV rays. Gator Patch is a highly effective and inexpensive solution for fixing damaged areas.

Aluminum boat hull repair

Just as Gator Patch is highly effective for fiberglass repair, it is also a great solution after a collision if you need to repair a hole or other damage to your aluminum boat’s hull.

Paddleboard repair

Gator Patch is a great solution to repair paddle board holes or other damage.

It’s never fun when your boat or kayak gets damaged, but Gator Patch’s watertight and impenetrable adhesive allows you to repair (or prevent) the damage. You’ll be ready to go for your next outing in no time.

At PartsVu, we offer four sizes of Gator Patch to cover nearly any type of damage or area you’d like to protect:

We also offer the Gator Guard kayak keel guard. Applying Gator Patch to the keel of your kayak protects it from scratches and dings from dragging across pesky boat ramps or direct hits with rocks out on the water.

How to install Gator Guard

Installing Gator Patches from Gator Guard is super easy.

  1. Sand the area around the hole or crack you want to repair or the area you want to protect.
  2. Clean the surface area with isopropyl alcohol. Do not use other cleaners, such as acetone.
  3. Cut Gator Patch to fit around the damaged area or the area to be protected
  4. Remove the white film on the Gator Patch, and apply it to the damaged area or the area to be protected.
  5. Use your fingers to press the Gator Patch down across the full surface area paying special attention to the edges to ensure a proper seal.
  6. Remove the clear film and allow the sun’s UV rays to cure the Gator Patch for one hour. If you are working indoors, use a UV-emitting light to cure the patch. After an hour, the Gator Patch will be fully cured to a 500PSI Strength and ready for use.
  7. You can sand and paint to match your vessel to improve the appearance.

Note: For hulls weighing over 100 pounds, we recommend using multiple Gator Patch layers. This increases the thickness of the protective material on high-wear areas, increasing the product’s lifespan.

Gator Guard products bond to fiberglass, metal, wood, and plastic–it doesn’t matter what your vessel is made of; Gator Guard is ready to go!

Whether you want to repair the damage done to your boat or kayak hull or prevent damage in the future, Gator Guard offers a simple and affordable solution. You can repair damage in less than an hour, and with the sandable and paintable patch, you can make it look like the damage never happened.

I have a screw hole that cracked a bit where a swim ladder attaches to the hull. Can this product be used for that and can a screw then be screwed into this product?
