Mercury Marine Paint and Polish Multipacks

Acrylic lacquer engine paint to suit most outboard, stern drive and inboard motors. Apply Mercury Clear Coat 30 minutes after base color has been applied.

Keep corrosion away from the trim unit, clamp brackets, exhaust housing, and swivel bracket. Watch for peeling and chipping paint here, and be sure to sand, prep, and touch up any bad areas. Let it dry to a haze, then polish it off with a different clean, soft cloth. Keep it covered. Mercury Marine Cowl finishing compound is a polish designed to remove minor scratches and light oxidation while producing a high gloss. Mercury Phantom Black engine paint is suitable for use on all Mercury outboards, inboards, stern drive and lower units from 1960 to the present. Phantom Black is an authentic black paint for Mercury and Mariner Outboards, Sport Jet, and Mercruiser Stern Drives. Prepare surface by priming with Quicksilver Light Gray Primer. Protect the cowl with automotive wax. Apply the wax in a circular motion with a clean, soft cloth. Let it dry to a haze, then polish it off with a different clean, soft cloth. Sand and prep any scrapes or abrasions before applying touch-up paint. As with other parts that require painting, use zinc chromate primer applied to the bare metal before the actual color paint is applied. This aerosol paint is easy to apply and features a fast-drying and high-gloss formula. Typically, cowls are made from fiberglass, plastic, sheet molded compound, and/or aluminum. They're usually painted with automotive enamel and decorated with decals and appliques. Use Phantom Black Paint with Quicksilver Light Gray Primer for better adhesion. Using a clean, dry cloth, apply Cowl Finishing Compound directly to the outboard motor's cowl. We even have colors to match Mariner and Force engines.
