Dakota Lithium - 36V 8A Battery Charger - 36V8ACHARGER

This 8A lithium charger has been designed specifically for charging large 36V batteries, such as Dakota Lithium's lithium iron phosphate batteries (LiFePO4 or LFP). It is not suitable for charging lead acid or SLA batteries, as it may be too powerful for them. The charger is housed in a high tensile aluminum case to ensure rapid cooling and is capable of charging a Dakota Lithium 36V 60Ah battery in less than 8 hours or a 36V 100Ah battery in less than 12 hours. For optimal performance and longevity, it is recommended to charge all Dakota Lithium batteries with a LiFePO4 compatible charger like this one. The included Anderson plug with ring terminals allows for safe and easy charging - simply plug in and remove when finished. Additionally, this charger is compatible with all Connect-Ease trolling motor wiring kits as an add-on.

• Charger Recommendation:

  • Use a LiFePO4-compatible charger for optimal performance and lifespan.
  • 36V chargers for lead acid batteries may work but can reduce battery life.

• Terminal Connections:

  • Use Anderson SB 50 connections for easy connection:
    • Install ring terminals using the bolts on your battery terminals.
    • Bolt black to the black terminal and red to the red terminal.
  • Connect the charger via the Anderson plug when charging.
  • Indicator lights:
    • Red light: Charging.
    • Green light: Fully charged.

• Smart BMS Communication:

  • The charger can "wake up" a Dakota Lithium BMS after:
    • A short circuit.
    • Excessive amp draw.
  • Simply connect the charger to restart the battery.

• Charging Speed:

  • Charges at 8 amps.
  • To estimate charging time:
    • Divide the battery's amp-hour (Ah) rating by 8.
    • Example: A 36V 60Ah battery charges in 7.5 hours.

• Faster Charging:

  • Standard charging time (3-10 hours) ensures longer battery life.
  • Rapid charging:
    • Safe to charge in 1 hour (rate: 1C).
    • Example: Use an 8-amp charger for an 8Ah battery.
    • Note: Faster charging may reduce lifespan over time.
  • Recommended charging speed for longevity: 0.3C or less
    • Use a charger with an amp rating 1/3 or less of the battery’s amp-hour rating.

• Recommended Charging Voltage:

  • Charge 36V Dakota Lithium (LiFePO4) batteries at 43.2 volts.
  • This charger charges at 43.2 volts.

  • A 10-amp charger is included with every Dakota Lithium 54Ah and 100Ah battery purchase.
