Description
Mercury – Side Mount Remote Control, 8-Pin Traditional | Outboard Control with Trim | 8M0176295
Overview
This is the longer-harness version of Mercury’s classic 8-pin side mount control. Same familiar layout, just more reach. If you’ve ever come up a little short running wires to the console, this one solves that problem. Trim is built right into the handle, the warning horn is already there, and the extra harness length gives you more flexibility when rigging wider boats or center consoles. It’s old-school in the good way—simple, proven, and easy to live with.
Key Features
• Handle-Mounted Trim Switch – Lets you control trim without taking your hand off the handle.
• Twenty-Foot 8-Pin Harness – Extra length helps when the console is farther from the transom.
• Built-In Warning Horn – Integrated horn means one less component to wire separately.
• Front-Mount Trim Leads Included – Power trim leads are already in place for a front trim switch.
• Traditional Mechanical Design – Straightforward mechanical control with no electronic modules.
Engine & Boat Compatibility
• Mercury outboard engines with integral power trim
• Mariner outboard engines with integral power trim
• Force outboards forty horsepower and higher, nineteen ninety-three and newer
• Mechanical control systems
• Traditional eight-pin Mercury wiring
Performance & Practical Benefits
Once installed, this control feels familiar right away. Shifting is smooth at idle, and trim is always right where your thumb expects it to be. The longer harness takes the stress out of rigging, especially on boats where everything is spread out a bit more. After setup, it just works without needing constant attention.
Why Buy OEM
OEM Mercury controls are built around Mercury cable geometry and wiring layouts, not guesswork. Everything fits the way it should, and features like the warning horn and trim leads are already handled. That saves time during installation and avoids extra connections later. For a control you use every trip, OEM keeps things simple.
FAQ
Q1: How do I know if this control will work with my engine?
A: If your outboard uses traditional eight-pin Mercury wiring and has power trim, this is the correct style.
Q2: What’s the difference between this and the shorter 8-pin control?
A: This version includes a twenty-foot harness instead of a fifteen-foot harness.
Q3: Does this control include a warning horn?
A: Yes, the warning horn is built into the control.
Q4: Will this work on newer small FourStroke outboards?
A: On 2005 and newer 8, 9.9, 15, and 20 horsepower FourStroke models, an adapter harness is required.
Q5: What throttle and shift cables should be used?
A: GEN II throttle and shift cables are required. Some small FourStroke models use SAE throttle and shift cables.
