Yamaha QB1-10MEL-10-00 Fuel/Water Separator - Supersedes from MAR-10MEL-00-00 & MAR-FUELF-IL-TR
If you are replacing a Yamaha fuel and water separating filter, QB1-10MEL-10-00 is the current Yamaha part number that takes the place of MAR-10MEL-00-00 and MAR-FUELF-IL-TR. It is the same style filter Yamaha has used for years, just under an updated number.
This filter is meant to catch water and fine particles before fuel ever gets to the engine. It filters fuel down to 10 microns and is rated for 90 gallons per hour, which is enough flow for most Yamaha outboards without causing restriction. That matters, especially with ethanol fuel, which tends to carry moisture and loosen debris inside the tank and lines.
You will find this filter on many Yamaha two-stroke and four-stroke outboards. If your engine is 115 horsepower or smaller, Yamaha may call for the smaller QB1-M10EL-10-00 filter instead, so checking the application is still important.
Using a genuine Yamaha filter helps keep injectors, pumps, and internal fuel components from dealing with water or contamination they were never designed to handle. It is a simple maintenance item, but one that plays a big role in avoiding fuel-related issues on the water.
